In fluidized bed, particles, which form a packed bed in a static situation, were bottom-blown with gas (mostly air). Thus, the particles come into intensive motion, the so-called fluidized bed occurs. Now, there are perfect preconditions for the heat and mass transfer and thus for cooling or drying of fluidizable bulk goods. Via integrated spray systems, the fluidized bed method can be used for further process technological procedures, as agglomeration and spray granulation. Fine powders or liquids were formed to particles and then show enhanced application properties as granules. More than this, fluidized bed processes are suitable for coating and to fix a substance within a matrix, the microencapsulation.
